Lab Rubber & Plastic Calender
Model
AT-P6130 series
Applications
It is used to press materials like rubber and plastics into uniformly thick films or sheets in the laboratory.
Laboratory Custom Lab Calender Overview
A laboratory calender is a scaled-down version of a mass-production calender. It has several heated, rotating rolls that press materials like rubber and plastics into uniformly thick films or sheets. However, its applications are more focused on research and development, such as developing new materials, small-batch trial production, and simulating mass production processes. Thanks to its compact size, experiments can be conducted with very little material at a time, avoiding material waste. Operators can precisely control the roll gap and temperature to meet various process requirements. It can process a wide variety of materials, from rubber and plastics to lithium battery electrode materials.
Depending on material and process needs, we can provide laboratory calenders with two, three, four, or even more rolls. Roll layouts can be vertical or horizontal, supporting I-type, F-type, L-type, Z-type, or customized to user requirements. The calendered sheets can be automatically coated and wound as necessary.
How the Lab Calender Works
Plasticized materials, such as rubber and plastics, are fed between two closely spaced, oppositely rotating rolls at a same speed. The material is subjected to immense compressive force, which compresses it to fill the gap between the rolls, thus pressing it into a sheet of a specific thickness. The material is repeatedly compressed through multiple roll gaps, further thinning it and improving thickness uniformity. The rolls can be heated and cooled as needed. If the two rolls are set at different speeds, a strong shearing force is generated, further shearing and mixing the material, improving its plasticity and ductility.
Detailed Description of Equipment
Our calender uses high-strength steel pipes welded to form the frame, which is then painted for a beautiful and durable finish. The rolls are made of KDB high-carbon steel, chrome-plated, and mirror-polished to ensure excellent smoothness and hardness. The rolls can be equipped with heating or cooling functions as needed. Heating options include electric heating or oil heating for better temperature uniformity. Each roll can be configured with an independent geared motor to control its speed independently, ensuring no interference between rollers. The size, number, and layout of the rollers can be customized to your requirements.
3-roll calender
The machine can be configured with a coating support to coat or support the calendered sheets. It can also be configured with an automatic winding motor and corresponding winding rolls for edge trimming and winding of the calendered sheets, or a stamping device to slice the sheets into specific sizes.
Our laboratory calender’s controller is a 10-inch Siemens PLC touchscreen that supports English interaction. The screen features various virtual buttons for setting parameters and controlling machine operation, such as starting, stopping, and adjusting and controlling temperature and speed. Real-time operating parameters and status of the machine are also displayed on the screen for monitoring. Test data can be stored.
